Donna Maria Johnston

Donna Maria Johnston, age 58, passed away peacefully in her home on April 18,2021. She was born March 27, 1963 in Hinton, West Virginia to Danny and Jewell Ratliff. She was married to Michael Wayne Johnston, on May 26, 1984. Donna loved her family and friends dearly and this was always her topic of discussion. She had a passion for good food, cooking, spending time with her large group of girlfriends, and the beach. Donna was a homemaker. She spent most of her life raising her family and all the responsibilities that came with that. Some of her favorite memories were watching her daughter play sports, especially softball and hearing about her son's big catch for the day! If you had the privilege to truly know Donna, you knew she was kind, loving, always aimed to please, a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her life was a living example of this Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ." Donna is predeceased by her grandparents, Raymond and Ruby Ratliff, Jack and Madeline Meadows. Her father, Danny Ratliff, and Father-In-Law, Herbert Johnston. Donna is survived by her husband, Michael Wayne Johnston, of Colonial Heights. Daughter, Casey French and Son-in- Law, Marcus. Two granddaughters, Danni Rae, and Rylee French, all of Powhatan, Virginia. Her son Michael Ryan Johnston of Colonial Heights. Her mother and stepfather Jewell and Gary Neal of Powhatan, Virginia. Her mother-in-law Gaynell Johnston of Chester, Virginia. Her brother, Jeffrey Ratliff and Sister-in-Law, Michele. Her Nephew, Andrew, and Nieces, Lauren and Jillian. Her pet dog Cole. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. All of these she loved and touched deeply. As Donna would want all of her family and friends together, please join us at her viewing, Thursday evening April 22, 2021, between 6:00 p.m.-8 p.m. at Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, located at 3215 Anderson Highway in Powhatan, Virginia. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Red Lane Baptist Church located at 2095 Red Lane Rd. Powhatan, Virginia. Reception to follow.
