John H. Dowdy, Sr.

79, of Cumberland, died January 4, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Nancy E. Dowdy; daughters, Kathryn Phillips and Len Bowker; son John H. Dowdy Jr.; sisters, Lucille, Margaret, Brenda; 10 grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Dale Dowdy. The family will receive friends Tuesday (tonight) from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt.60), Powhatan. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cumberland.
