John W. Heist, Sr.

HEIST, Sr., John W., 80, of Powhatan, widower of Levada Heist, died September 27, 2012. He is survived by his children, John W. Heist, Jr. (Stephanie) of Glen Allen, Holly Bock (Bruce) of Mechanicsville; five grandchildren, Stephanie L. Heist, Nelson W. Heist, Jessica R. H. Burgess, Kaleigh N. Burgess, Matthew D. Bock. Mr. Heist retired as a mechanical engineer from International Paper Company after over 40 years. He was an avid gardener, member of May Memorial Baptist Church, member of Powhatan Historical Society and a graduate of Vanderbuilt University. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 pm at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan and where funeral services will be held Monday 11 am. Interment Powhatan Community Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Powhatan Historical Society.
