Parker Elgin "Tim" Timberlake, III

July 4, 1952 — March 29, 2013

Parker Elgin Timberlake,III "Tim", age 60, of Powhatan departed this life on March 29, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Parker Elgin Timberlake, Jr. and Doris Winburne Timberlake. He is survived by his wife of thirty six years, Julia Baldock Timberlake; daughters, Ann Timberlake Burnette (Kevin), Diane Elizabeth Timberlake; son, Sergeant Parker Elgin Timberlake, IV of the United States Army; one granddaughter, Margaret Monroe Burnette; and many loving friends and relatives. Tim was employed at Graybar Electric Company for 32 years and worked for the past six years at Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Home. He was a long time member of Powhatan United Methodist Church and of the "Just Us" Country Gospel Band. Tim also served as Treasurer of the Powhatan Riding Club for many years and loved horses and horseback riding. He was an animal lover for his entire life and shared a love of animals and the outdoors with his family. Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, who was known for his kind, patient ways and willingness to help others. The family would like to thank the professional and caring nursing staff at Johnston Willis Hospital who made the last two months of Tim's life less difficult, as well as the caring doctors who assisted him. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy.(Rt.60), Powhatan. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11am in the Powhatan United Methodist Church. Interment to follow at 2:30pm in the Davidson-Timberlake Family Cemetery, Lynchburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Powhatan United Methodist Church, 2253 Rosson Road, Powhatan, Va. 23139, Indian Hill United Methodist Church, 1683 Oxford Furnace Road, Lynchburg, Va. 24504 or the Powhatan County Rescue Squad, P.O.Box 247 Powhatan, Va. 23139.
