Richard Bradford "Dick" Rabon

October 22, 1944 — June 17, 2013

Richard Bradford "Dick" Rabon, 68, of Powhatan, died peacefully at home with his family around him, June 17, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gladys Carter Rabon who he adored; daughters, Lisa & David Davis of North Carolina, Carla & Ray Crump of Powhatan; mother, Letha Rabon; granddaughters, Mary Beth Chappell, Megan, Hannah and Rebekah Crump, Taylor Rabon, Jessica Russ, Amanda Pridgen, Peggy Bone; sisters, Betty Price & Laura Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his son, John Taylor Rabon; father, Royce Rabon; brother, Jim Rabon; sister Edna Price. Dick was drafted into the Army and fought in the Vietnam War. He retired from CSX Railroad after over 38 years of service as a conductor. He absolutely adored his wife and all of his "girls". He enjoyed going to breakfast at County Seat, especially with the Tuesday Breakfast Club. Coon hunting was a favorite pastime as was watching a softball game and taking a ride around the block. Above all, he was a man of faith who was excited to make the journey home to be with his heavenly Father. The family will receive friends Tuesday (tonight) from 6 to 8 pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the May Memorial Baptist Church, Powhatan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the May Memorial Baptist Church Youth Fund.
