Roscoe L. Timberlake

Roscoe L. Timberlake, 95, of Powhatan, died November 30, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Thelma P. Timberlake; two sons, Thomas Powers(Cathy) of Sumter, S.C., Art Powers(Sally) of Hardy; one sister, Evelyn Saunders of Smithfield; five grandchildren, Wil Powers(Lindsey), Sarah Mullins(Chip), Alex Powers(Amber), Robin and Jesse Powers; two great grandchildren, Olivia and Lucas Mullins. Mr. Timberlake was a member of the Powhatan County Board of Supervisors for twenty-nine years and was also an original commissioner of the Richmond Regional Planning Commission. He was motivated to enter political life when public education in Powhatan was threatened, and for his entire career was a staunch supporter of public schools. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 to 2 pm in the Hobson's Chapel United Methodist Church, Powhatan followed by funeral services at 2pm. Interment Church Cemetery.
