Tucker, Anthony Pearly (A. P.), Jr. of Midlothian went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A. P. Tucker, Sr. Gracie Elder Tucker, and his wife of 61 years, Edith Smith Tucker. He is survived by his son, A. P. Tucker, III (Peggy), daughters Patricia Chafin (Jamie) and Pamela Edwards (Dan); six grandchildren, John McKenna, Amber Towler, Ryan Edwards, Tony Edwards, Alison Kent, Christopher Chafin and one great-granddaughter, Charly Towler. He leaves behind many cherished friends and was a blessing to every person he knew.
A. P. was born in Brookneal, VA on June 14, 1932. He joined the Navy in 1951 and served until 1955. He spent his career in law enforcement with the City of Lynchburg, the Virginia State Police, the County of Chesterfield and retired as Chief of Police at the Virginia State Capitol in 1991, after serving for 21 years. A. P. was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church and very active in a Sunday School class where he was the unofficial leader in raising funds for people in need both near and far. We would like to express our great appreciation to his care givers the last few months – Amanda, Susan, Monique, and Brandi. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 3 to 6 PM at Bennett & Barden Funeral Home 3215 Anderson Hwy.,(RT 60) Powhatan. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church, 2 PM, 1100 Huguenot Springs Road, Midlothian, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Midlothian, VA 23113 or Hospice of Virginia, 1700 Bayberry Court, Richmond, VA 23226.
