Barbara Ann Hurst

Barbara Ann Hurst, 84 passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters on Wednesday January 28, 2026. Barbara was born March 11, 1941 and was from LaMoille IL. Barb married Jessie L Hurst and became a military wife. She not only traveled all over the country but internationally as well. When all the traveling ended they settled in Virginia.

She was preceded in death by Jessie, her husband of 48 years; her son, Kevin; and her brother Jerry Schultz. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Lisa Hiltunen (Todd), Denise Harney (Ross) & beloved daughter in law Julie Hurst. She was a proud grandmother to grandchildren, Treyanna Welchman (Robert), Kayla Beasley (Josh), Rosie Nelson (Justin), Olivia Harney and Ethan Hurst; as well as great grandchildren, Adelyn, Bryce, Cara, & Carly Welchman, Kessra Nelson and Lainey Beasley. She is also survived by her siblings, Donald Schultz (Sandy), Leslie Schultz (Patti), Karen Powers and sister in law Barb Schultz; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In her retirement Barbara enjoyed living in the country next to her daughter where she liked watching and feeding the birds, deer and other animals. She loved doing activities with her senior group from baseball games to her weekly card game group. She especially enjoyed outings and her time spent with her best friend Carol Tighe. Barbara was a very kind woman who even at the end was watching out for and taking care of others. She truly touched and impacted many lives and will be dearly missed by all those who knew or loved her.
