Our beautiful angel, Barbie Alaya Brown, 43, of Chester, Virginia, affectionately known as "Meme" to her close family and friends. She was taken from us unexpectedly on Sunday, February 5th, 2023. Barbie was born on December 23rd, 1979 to Dorothy J. Booker and the late Gerald D. Harris and grew up in Powhatan, Virginia with her siblings and a host of family and friends. Barbie is survived by her mother and step-father, Dorothy J. and James Booker; siblings, Walter C. Allen, Nicole Kelly (Maurice), Monique Booker, Ishima Thomas (Greg); her 3 children with whom she adored, JaySun Carroll (20), Silas Jones (17) and Gabrielle Rush (13). She leaves devoted aunts and uncles, Janet Cousins (Frankie), Mary Scruggs, Larry Jackson, Keith & Henry Johnson and Cliff Howell (Judy). She leaves a devoted cousin, partner in crime and best friend forever Penny Howell, "Lil One".
Barbie enjoyed her life to the absolute fullest. She was daring, vivacious, expressive and bold. Barbie did not let her seat get warm. It was either go along for the ride or get left behind. She took pride in being a devoted mother, sister, and friend to so many that experienced her brilliant light. She was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and spent her Sunday's at Kickback Jacks with the DC4L fans cheering the team to the endzone. Barbie also admired her own beauty ensuring her makeup was flawless. There were no lashes or nails too long or wig too flamboyant for her to wear on any given day. She taught so many people how to love themselves authentically and unapologetically.
Barbie also was the Facebook administrator to a group called "305 Snatched" since 2019 that currently has over 24,000 members. She spent countless hours dedicating her time, answering questions, providing guidance, support and LOVE to people all over the world that needed that vote of confidence when taking charge over their body image. Although Barbie had friends all over the world that she cherished, her "ride or die" sisters include Shae Middleton, Keairra Howell, Donna Allen, Chavonne Gray and Rebecca Parker.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter & Edna Johnson, Solemn & Margaret Harris and her father Gerald Harris.
