Bernard Eugene Haislip Sr., age 83, of Amelia Courthouse, passed to be with the Lord on January 14, 2026. A devoted Christian, Bernard's walk with God was evident in his kindness, humility and unwavering trust in the Lord and he served as an example to all who knew him. Bernard cherished his family deeply and was a steady source of wisdom, encouragement, unconditional love and entertainment as he was a big kid at heart. He also had a love for music and self taught himself how to play the bass and acoustic guitar.
He was a carpenter by trade and a member of the the local carpenters union. He owned and operated Bernards Buildings and Carports and served Powhatan and the surrounding areas for many years. He also served his community by driving for Powhatan Public Schools.
Bernard is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda, with whom he shared a marriage marked by devotion and enduring love; two sons, Hank (Buffy) Haislip and Kenny (Jeannie) Haislip; daughter, Joyce (John) Ogle; eight grandchildren, Ademia Chavez, Bradley Haislip, Lindsey Wilbourne, Ryan Haislip, Cody Haislip, Kayla Whichard, Travis Haislip and Taylor Whichard; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Lewis (Judy) Haislip and Johnny (Renee) Haislip; sister, Shirley (Jimmy) Lampkin.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, January 19, 2026 at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home, Powhatan,Virginia. Funeral service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, January 20, 2026 with graveside service to follow at 5 Stone Church Cemetery, Powhatan, Virginia.
