Betty Marie Bales

Betty Bales, 85, of Cartersville, VA, passed away on Friday, March 27.She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Howard; her children, Wayne and Cathy, Kenny and Amy, Donna Chapman, Susan and Mark Behne, and Sharon Bales; as well as 12 grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, two brothers, and many dear friends.Betty enjoyed bowling and ran a small side business decorating cakes. She had a deep love for children. She taught 5-year-olds in Sunday School for years, taught Bible school every summer, and worked in the school cafeteria. She also spent years cooking dinners at church for Wednesday nights services. She found great joy in preparing delicious home-cooked meals for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with those around her.Her children will miss her sense of humor, her quick wit, and laughter, her grandchildren will miss her hugs, and her great-grandchildren will miss out on the fun pancake shapes she made and her deviled eggs.A visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cartersville Baptist Church. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Cartersville Baptist Church with a graveside service to follow.
