Calvin Dale Buchanan

Dale Buchanan "Base Player", 69 of Powhatan, VA went home to be with the Lord on April 7, 2026. He is preceded in death by his parents David Buchanan; Ann Buchanan and sister Dianne Martin. Dale is survived by his wife of 29 years, Rebecca "Becky" M. Buchanan; children, Kristal Oppert (Kerry), Britney Chartier (Steve), Ian Krampen, Abigail Duncan; and brother, Edward "Buck" Buchanan (Rene); sister, Cheryl Buchanan (Roger); sister-in-law, Jimmie Kay Graves (Johnny); grandchildren, Easton (Amaris), Connor (Kandace), Elijah, Micaiah, Alana, Emma Grace, Jackson, Aiden, Bella, Bradley, Nolan, Layne; and great grandchildren, Claire and Remington. Dale had numerous nieces and nephews. Dale was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He leaves us with many wonderful memories. We are so thankful for the loving care Dale received from his daughter Kristal and the Hospice of Virginia staff, special thanks to Donna and Cora. Dale could be found on the weekends at Rock Mill-Booker Mines Hunt Club in Buckingham or playing bass guitar in the worship band at PCC. Prior to that he rocked it playing in honky tonks.

The family will receive friends 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, April 14, at Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, where his service will be 11am Wednesday, April 15. Interment will be in Bermuda Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Rock Mill-Booker Mines Hunt Club, 10324 South James Madison hwy Dillwyn va 23936.
