Clarence James Thurston

  Clarence James Thurston, 83 of Cartersville, Va, born on December 18th, 1939, passed away on January 24th, 2023. Clarence was preceded in death by his son Ricky Thurston (Barry),; grandson, Frankie Dale Thurston, Jr.; three sisters, Mary Heeby, June and Thelma; two brothers, Charlie and Willie; his parents Daisy and Willie Thurston. 
 He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Margaret Thurston;his five children, Linda Dunivan (Martin), Frankie Thurston (Holly), Clarence James Thurston, Jr. (Kristin), Brisco Thurston (Lindsey) and Dallas Thurston (Victoria); two sisters, Barbara Jean and Jane; as well as his cherished 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Clarence, in his earlier years worked as a logger, then working as a painter with Wilson Shores for 13 years, and the creating his own business, CJ Thurston & Son for an additional 20 years. He enjoyed camping, playing music, working on cars, and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed his coffee and playing the lottery. 
A Visitation will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Bennett & Barden funeral Home. A service will be held Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at The Cartersville Baptist Church at 1:00 PM. Internment in the Family Cemetery, in Fife, VA. Condolences can be made at bennettbardenfh.com.
