Colette DeAnn Saxton

Colette DeAnn Saxton, age 85, of Powhatan, VA, passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lyle Saxton; her sister, Karen Hudson (Jim); three children, Brad Saxton (Beth), Tamara Costello (Sean), and Susie Woolfolk (Alec); four grandchildren, Victoria Bednar, Jacob Bednar, Aleece Wood (Hunter), and Hanna Woolfolk; one step-grandchild, Mary Beth Farley; two nephews and three nieces. 
While raising their three children, Colette was a stay-at-home mom. She loved cooking, sewing, quilting and crafts. She was an accomplished seamstress and a wonderful cook. After moving to Powhatan in 1999 to be closer to her children and grandchildren, she attended May Memorial Baptist for many years and was involved in the Women's Circle group and various activities. She also enjoyed spending summers at Lake Gaston and called it her "Happy Place".
Colette was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was very caring to others, cherished her many friends and was a friend to all.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy, Powhatan, VA 23139.
