With heavy hearts, we have said goodbye to Deborah Burden. After many years of bravely battling one medical challenge after another, she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and pets she loved so deeply. She was not only an incredible mom, but also a loving wife, a devoted sister, and a proud aunt who meant so much to so many people. Her love for her family was the center of her world.
To watch her fight for so long was both heartbreaking and inspiring. She carried more than most people ever should, yet she continued to love, care for, and worry about everyone else before herself. That was just who she was. While our hearts are incredibly heavy today, we find comfort in knowing she is finally free from the pain and struggles she endured for so many years. She left this world the same way she lived in it - with her family close by and love all around her.
Heaven gained the most beautiful soul, and we will carry her love with us for the rest of our lives.
Debbie was a long-time wildlife rehabilitator and champion for animals of all kinds. That said, in lieu of flowers, the family would prefer folks to make a donation to one of Debs favorite rescues- the Wildlife Center of Virginia at the following link: https://support.wildlifecenter.org/give/434546/#!/donation/checkout
Honoring Deb and the families wishes, a private, no-service cremation will take place. The family will announce a celebration of life event at a later date, TBD.
