Our beloved Debra Wright (Debbie) Wente died on December 30, 2025 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Betty Wright. She is survived by her husband of 57 years John Wente; her son Michael John Wente (Sonja)and daughter Amy Lynn Taylor (Darrell “Red”); and 9 grandchildren (Erin, Sydney, Alyssa, Austin, Skye, Joshua, Cody, Dylan and Ryann); six and 2/3 great grandchildren (Isabella, Archer, Ace, James, Kallum, William and coming in March Bo. She is also survived by her sister Bobbie Wright Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Debbie grew up in Roanoke Virginia until her junior year in high school when her parents moved to Rolling Meadows Illinois where she met the man of her life, John, on a double date, each dating someone else. (Another story by itself!) Except for her early married life when she worked full time for a couple of years, she became the best housewife, mother, and grandmother a family could ask for. While in Illinois as an active church member she worked with our church manning the prayer phone lines and offered prayer for everyone needing it. She was a steadfast evangelist spreading the love of God and brought many people to Christ.
We want to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Francis ICU who gave Debbie the attention and treatment that she needed.
In lieu of flowers please contribute in Debbie’s name to Southside Church of the Nazarene, Chesterfield, VA. 23832.
