Dianna Lee Messler

Dianna Lee Messler, 66 of Powhatan, went to be with the lord on April 15, 2024.  Dianna was born and grew up in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1975. Upon Graduation, Dianna decided to pursue a career in the Insurance industry where her continued education focused on insurance.  She spent 14 years working for Continental Insurance in their corporate office in New Jersey where she rose to a senior manager role in Information Systems.  In 1989 Dianna and her husband Rich took a corporate transfer to Continental's Richmond, Virginia operation. In 2004 she joined Encompass Insurance, where she received numerous Awards and Recognitions, including trips to Hawaii, New Orleans, Orlando, and as far as Switzerland.  For the past six years, Dianna worked for Sumser Insurance Professionals as an Account Manager in their Midlothian, VA. Office.  Di was a great fit for her various roles in insurance as she loved helping people and welcomed the many challenges an insurance career can bring. She excelled at everything she did.  Most important to Dianna was spending time with her family. She spent many days cheering her kids on during their time participating in various sports over the years.  She always looked forward to their family vacations in the Outer Banks and their days hiking the trails along Skyline Drive and the peaks of Otter.  Dianna cherished the times spent down on the Rappahannock River fishing and water skiing with her family and friends. She was always ready for a family adventure, whatever it was.  As Di's kids will tell you, she was a great cook. Dianna loved to prepare her special meals, especially during the holidays.  Di's kids describe her as a great Mom, who was always there for them. She would sacrifice anything for her family. Di's husband Rich, describes Dianna as a kind soul who lived a very good life and gave more than she ever expected in return. Rich is sure there is a very special place in Heaven for Dianna.  She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Rich Messler; children, Melissa Colon (Edwin), Greg Messler (Fiance: Kelsey) and Bobby Messler; grandchildren, Isabelle and Aaliyah; mother, Karen Roberts Culbertson; father, Bill Michel (Gerry); siblings, Woody Michel, Debbie Michel (Bart Roberts), Darci McAninch (David) and Jo-Lynne Welch (Jimmy).  The family will receive friends on Monday, April 22, 2024, at St. John Neumann Catholic church from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Followed by a wake service at 6:30 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am followed by lunch at noon. Interment is scheduled for 1:30 pm at the Powhatan Community Cemetery.
