Erich Michael Hibbard II, who preferred to be addressed as Michael, passed away on August 10, 2024, in Powhatan, Virginia, at the age of 53. Born in New Jersey, Michael spent his formative years at Owen J. Roberts High School before pursuing further education at DeSales University.
Michael's professional life was marked by significant accomplishments in both creative and technical fields. He authored two novels, which he held in great pride, and contributed over 25 years to the Information Technology sector, notably with VDOT technology. His dedication to his work brought him numerous awards for exemplary service, and he was a mentor to many, always eager to explore emerging technologies.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Michael was a man of diverse interests including writing, painting, drawing, journaling, video and tabletop gaming, philosophizing, coding, and reading. His creative and inquisitive nature made him a lifelong learner and an inspiring figure in both his personal and professional circles.
Michael's legacy is carried forward by his loving children, Kyle Jakob Hibbard and Ellis Daniel Hibbard, alongside an extensive network of friends and family who remember him fondly for his wisdom, loyalty, and nurturing spirit.
