Eugene Thomas Mascher

Eugene "Gene" Mascher, 90, went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2023.  Born in Jersey City NJ, he moved to Powhatan Virginia in 2009 from Morganville NJ.  He was a Veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War, serving on the USS Des Moines from 1950-1954.  Gene enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  His hobbies included going to the beach, fishing, lighthouses, playing cards and games and watching Abbott & Costello movies.  He is predeceased by parents Herbert and Margaret (McCarthy) Mascher; survived by wife Carol of Powhatan VA; daughters Kathy Mawby (Doug) of Midlothian VA and Susan Rousseau of Amelia Court House VA, son Tom Mascher (Tammy) of Powhatan VA; grandchildren Megan Mawby, Caitlin Mawby, Justin Harlow (Cate) and Brandon Harlow (Jill); great-grandchildren Jonathan Harlow, Samantha Harlow, Aiden Harlow, Hailey Harlow, and Caleb Harlow.  Private memorial service 3PM Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Gospel Light Baptist Church, 2109 Anderson Highway, Powhatan VA 23139.  Bennett & Barden Funeral Home & Crematory, 3215 Anderson Highway, Powhatan VA 23139 is in charge of the arrangements.  Condolences may be made at Bennettbardenfh.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors.
