Gloria Lathrop, 79 of Powhatan, VA passed away on Friday November 27th, 2020. She is survived by her daughters Wendy Goodwyn (Art) and Becky Griffith (Brian), four grandchildren: Brittany Fridley (Cory), Landis Goodwyn, Bryce Hylton (Paige), Lyndsey Hylton, and three great grandchildren: Easton & Caroline Fridley and Bonnie Hylton. Gloria is preceded in death by her husband of fifty years Jerry Lathrop, her parents Carine & Dorothy Nichols and brother Kenneth Nichols all of Powhatan, Virginia. Gloria was born on November 4, 1941 in Washington DC to Carnie & Dorothy Nichols. She traveled all over the world attending school in Japan and Alaska until returning back to Virginia to finish schooling when her father retired from the United States Army. She married Jerry Lathrop on August 12th 1961 and lived in Hawaii, California, and North Carolina while Jerry served in the United States Marines. When Jerry retired from the Marines they resided in Chesterfield, Virginia until finally settling down back in Powhatan, Virginia where they raised their family. Gloria was a devoted wife and mother and loved nothing more than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never missed a game, pageant or special occasion. She and Jerry loved to travel. Their travels took them to many places around the world such as Greece, Rome, Brazil and often to Atlantic City where Gloria especially loved playing the slot machines. Gloria was a partner and realtor with Fine Creek Realty for over 15 years serving many residents in Powhatan until her retirement
