Gloria Jean Vaughan

Gloria Jean Vaughan, 84, of Powhatan, VA, passed away suddenly at home on July 23, 2025.

Jean was born in Charleston, WV on May 16, 1941. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1959.

Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was best known for her generous spirit, positive outlook, contagious smile and unforgettable laugh. Jean was always quick to give her time, attention, and “BIG HUGS” to family and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Denver and Marcella Means; brother, David Kermit Means; and sister, Myrna Loy Jones.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wayne Vaughan; daughter, Tracy Jarrett Long (Glenn) of Moyock, NC; granddaughter, Sierra Long of Kannapolis, NC; sisters Karen Ciampanella (John) of Charleston, WV, and Elizabeth Liston (Brad) of Cross Lanes, WV. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Powhatan Community Cemetery (2929 Old Buckingham Rd., Powhatan, VA) on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 2:00 pm
