Howard "Wayne" Roper, 81, was born in Richmond VA on December 24 1944. He lived his final years in Powhatan and passed after a brief illness on Monday, August 31 2026.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Charlie Roper; mother, Catherine Roper; brother, Robert (Robo) Roper; sister, Jamie Hite; brother in law, Willie Hite. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Roper; children, Warren Roper (Shaynee) and Wesley Roper; and their mother, Wanda Roper; grandchildren, Zachary Roper, Mckenna Roper and Shelby Farkash; great- grandchildren, Elijah Lane and Isaiah Lane. He was the oldest of six siblings, Pat Carter (AB), Mike Roper (Diane) and Vickey Roper.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Wayne spent the majority of his working years in the HVAC trade. He then built his own business from the ground up "Roper Service Heating and Air Conditioning". He enjoyed Saltwater Fishing, a cold Budweiser Beer and watching short track racing and NASCAR.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 2:00 pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home Chapel, Powhatan, VA.
