James F Babcock Jr (Jimmy) departed this life on March 13, 2024 while surrounded by his family. He was the fixer of all things, a fountain of knowledge and the best husband, daddy and pop in the world! Jimmy was predeceased in death by his parents James and Thelma Babcock and his great granddaughter Desiree Taylor all of who were standing at the gates of Heaven to welcome him in! He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years, Charlotte Babcock, One sister Betty Seaver Tate, One Aunt Elane Joyce, 5 children, Annette Steffenhagen (Irvin) Jeannie Shaver (Larry) William Babcock (Tracy) Jamie Babcock (Suzy) & Wendy Meadows (Ray), 12 grandchildren, Stephanie Steffenhagen (Nathan), Sarah Bell (David) Samantha Steffenhagen (Dusty), Thomas Shaver (Tiffany) Amanda Shaver (Chris), William "Rooster" Babcock (Chastity), Mindy Moore (Matt), James Babcock, Jonathan Babcock (Kaitlyn) Brittany Carter, Katie Carter and Laura Carter, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members as well as friends who were more like family including two devoted friends who were like sons to him, Shorty Martinez and David Fox. The family will receive friends on Sunday March 17, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home. 3215 Anderson Highway, Powhatan, VA 23139. Funeral services will be held on Monday March 18, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the same location. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude which was one of Jimmy's favorite charities.
