James Elliott Shelton Sr.

James E. Shelton died on April 12, 2026. Jim was born and grew up in Jasper. GA. He was a proud graduate of the University of Georgia. He loved his DAWGS!!! Jim was a resident of Powhatan County for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Lucille and H.V. Shelton and his beloved wife Ann Walker Shelton. Survived by his brother Bill Shelton, sons Elliott, Tom (wife Renee), and David (wife Sarah) and grandchildren Loyd, Lilly, and Allison. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of Suncrest Hospice and Anchored in Peace for their love and care.

The family will be receiving friends Wednesday between 6 - 8pm at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Highway (Rt. 60) Powhatan, where his funeral services will be held Thursday at 11am at the Bennett and Barden Funeral Home. Internment will follow at the Powhatan Community Cemetery near the Powhatan Courthouse.
