John Russell Hager, 78, of Powhatan, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 26, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his wife, of 47 years, Sandra Hager; parents, Norman and Mary Hager.

John is survived by his daughter, Heather Kite (Matthew); granddaughter, Megan Stanley (David); grandsons, John Cauthen, Mason Cauthen (Krystal Settle); bonus granddaughter, Makynzie Kite; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Theia, Amelia, Liam, Wrenley, bonus great-grandson, Luke.

John was a devoted, loyal and loving husband, father grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and racing go karts.

John was a Vietnam Veteran who was proud of his service to his country.

He enjoyed fellowship with his brothers and sisters in arms at the American Legion Post #186, for the last 13 years.

A Celebration of John's Life will be held 2PM Sunday October 18, 2026 at the American Legion Post #186, 901 Otterdale Rd, Midlothian, VA 23114.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in John's memory to the American Legion Post #186.
