John Leonard Myers, Jr.

John Leonard Myers, Jr. 89, of Powhatan, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Reba Jo Ownby Myers. He is survived by his son, J. Randy Myers (Tammy); daughter, Dr. Tammy Jo Myers Martin (Harvey); sister, Helen M. Bradshaw; brother, Joseph B. Myers; grandchildren, J. Paul Myers (Amanda), Dr.Matthew Turner (Haley), Erik Myers, Kilby Cumbea, Joshua Turner and Kennedy Martin; John and Reba were also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren as well. He worked tirelessly for his family, his church and retired as a Captain after 32 years of service with the Virginia Department of Corrections. He loved greatly and was greatly loved in return.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff of James River Hospice as well as the wonderful ladies who have cared for Pop-Pop and became part of our family over the past 2 1/2 years.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy, Powhatan. Services will be held Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 3:00 pm in the Fine Creek Baptist Church, 3619 Huguenot Trail, Powhatan, VA 23139. Interment Fine Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
