Julie Ann Hastings Lawrence, 68, of Powhatan County, VA, went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2025, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born on October 19, 1957 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis, who passed away on February 12, 2025. Julie is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Swanson (Shane); two grandchildren, Shane, Jr. and Paisley; and her brother, Pete Hastings, as well as many other family members.
Julie volunteered most of her adult life in one capacity or another, beginning with the Chesterfield Jaycees and most recently with the Powhatan Christmas Mother program.
Julie was a faithful member and very active at her church, Saint John Neumann Catholic Church in Powhatan County.
Julie was employed at Ukrops as an executive administrator to the buyers and marketing department for over 22 years. When Ukrops closed their stores, she went to work for Retail Data until she retired in July of 2020.
Julie enjoyed life to the fullest. She danced competitively with Simply Ballroom and was a member of the Richmond Shag Club. Julie was an avid horse lover as well. She was a member of the James River driving club for years. Her two favorite breeds of horses were Morgan and Arabian.
On June, 2nd, the family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, followed by services at 11:00 am and interment. All services, including the reception, will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church located at 2480 Batterson Road, Powhatan, Virginia.
