Obituary for Our Beloved Granny

Known to many simply as Granny, Lillie Nixon Seegers, age 95, of Powhatan, VA left this world peacefully on September 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alta Pugh Nixon and Verdie Hubert Nixon; husband, W.R. Seegers; her sister, Frances Estelle Hutchens; brothers, Bobby Gene Nixon and Harry Lee Nixon; and her daughter-in-law, Louise Nixon.

Granny is survived by her son, Sammy Nixon; daughter, Sherie Seegers McGee (Donnie); grandchildren, Brandon McGee (Monica), Brittany McGee Yates (Christopher), and Blair McGee; and great-grandchildren, Briana Hensley, Crue Yates, Merrick McGee, and Lilly Page Yates; and her siblings, Louise Nixon Glasgow, Wesley Hubert Lee Nixon (Sue), and Margaret Nixon Lednum.

She was a hard worker who found joy in tending her garden and collecting tea sets. Known for her infectious laugh and generous heart, she will be remembered for the love she poured into her family.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her Suncrest Hospice care providers for their unwavering support.

A graveside service will be held at Grays Chapel in North Carolina on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
