Lynne White Blankenship

September 5, 1951 — May 13, 2024

Powhatan

Lynne White Blankenship, 72, of Powhatan, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 13, 2024.

Lynne was a graduate of Hermitage High School. After graduation, she obtained her LPN certification to pursue a career in the nursing profession. She joined Powhatan Family Physicians and worked there for over 35 years, which encompassed most of her career. She played such a significant role there, helping her patients with all their health and medical needs, even after work. She was always on call and didn’t give it a second thought, as that was her passion: to help people. Through this time, Lynne gained so much respect in the community, as well as so many friendships. People looked up to her, not only as a nurse and mentor, but as a very special individual. She had the gifts of love, comfort, compassion, empathy, sincerity, loyalty, and many more. She truly was and is an angel.

Lynne was also a loyal and dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family meant the world to her. She also enjoyed serving the Lord by attending church. She loved spending time with her church family, going to Sunday School, Worship Service, Bible studies, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and playing the piano/organ. She would do just about anything to help the church, and just like with her family, she loved and cherished her church family dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles S. White; her mother, Norma T. White; her stepmother, Josephine M. White; and her brother, Steve White.

Surviving is her husband, Melvin L. Blankenship; daughters and son, Linda Blankenship Fields, Tamra L. Blankenship(Shannon), and Clifford A. Blankenship; granddaughters and grandsons, Hadley Swift (Allen), Harris Cole, Kenley Fields(Chase), Kiley Fields, and Trey Fields; great-grandchildren, Mallie Swift, Octavia Bryant, and Ryder Bryant; sister-in-law Rosemary White; nephew and niece, Brien White (Ilene), and Amy White Comstock (Everett).
