Margaret Jewett Goode Carter

Margaret Jewett Goode Carter, 78 of Powhatan, formerly of Midlothian, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 18, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Read Goode and Mary Elizabeth Fisher Goode; brother, Read Fisher Goode.  She is survived by her husband of over 53 yrs., Kenneth G. Carter; children, Kenneth G. Carter, Jr. (Rhonda Gail) and Mary Margaret Carter Clark (Roger Seth); grandson, Carter Seth Clark; Sister-in-law Jo Ann Sheehy Goode and her son Read and daughter Kimberly; and many loving cousins.

Margaret was a devoted & loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had an unwavering  faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of May Memorial Baptist Church for more than 50 years.  Her kindness and a genuine interest in people were her most outstanding gifts.  She loved unconditionally and was entrusted as a confidant by many.  She always put other's needs before her own and was loved and respected by all who knew her.  She enjoyed a full life in her home where neighbors are family and family are friends. She won the hearts and trust of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of nurturing, love and faith. 

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 in the May Memorial Baptist Church at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to May Memorial Baptist Church. Online condolences may be made at bennettbardenfh.com
