She was called "Marty" by her family and "Marta" by her friends. She was the last of 8 children born to Czechoslovak immigrants. Her dad worked in the steel mills of Pittsburgh until he saved enough money to buy a farm at Cambridge Springs, near Erie, PA, where Marta grew up. At 19 years old she married Merle D. Miller (youngest of 3 boys) and they had one child, Linda Jo Miller. Merle, aka "Squirt", rejoined the Air Force and Marta and her family for the next 26 years lived throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. Although she was always homesick no matter where they lived. She settled in Los Angeles from 1968 - 1994, lived one year in Oklahoma, and then relocated to Virginia in 1997. She was a woman of strong faith who led her daughter to the Lord. She had no grandchildren but she poured out her love to her animals and her daughter. She chose her friends wisely and always had an open heart and home to anyone in need. She truly had a servants heart. She is missed deeply.
