Nelson Edward Harkins

Nelson (Red) Edward Harkins passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023.  Red had been suffering from health conditions for some time, but his suffering is over now.  Red loved carpentry, hunting, shooting, and most of all his family and friends.  Red was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Ruthie Harkins; Uncle and Aunt, Charles and Leola Franklin; cousins, Bertie Wood (Shirley) and Henry Franklin (Janie).  Red is survived by his two sisters, Susan Brame (Mike) and Anita Proffitt (Robbie); cousins, Joe Franklin (Pat), Kenneth Franklin (Jean), and Albert Franklin (Sherry); and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. There will be a visitation service at 2:00 pm at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home in Powhatan Saturday, January 21, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm.
