Paul Nathaniel Adkins Sr, 81 of Buckingham, passed to be with the Lord on June 20,2026 surrounded by his family at his home.
Paul Adkins was born on July 26, 1945, to Samuel Franklin Adkins and Redith Malinda Adkins in Slab Fork West Virgina. He attended and graduated from Webster Springs high school.
Paul was a devoted father of 4 children, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and survived by one sister.
He was married to the love of his life Shirley, for 61 years.
He moved to Virginia and worked for Phillip Morris, later becoming the co-owner of Liberty Valance Restaurant. While living in Powhatan, he proudly served on the Powhatan Board of Supervisors for several years. In the early 90's, he moved to Buckingham County and started a cattle farm that later turned into a produce farm.
With God's grace, he survived for 25 years with a single transplanted lung, 14 years with a transplanted kidney, a quadruple bypass, sepsis and extensive vascular surgeries.
He lived with no challenge to great by the grace of God.
His faith and love for God radiated with a brightness that touched everyone around him. He always put God first. He loved his family with every ounce of his heart. He was loved by so many that called him Dad, pops and pawpaw. His trust in God was truly something he wanted to share with the world.
He loved the outdoors. He always wanted to be doing something whether it was working on the farm or helping someone no matter what. He always put others first never thinking twice.
There will never be enough words to describe how truly amazing he was!
Family will receive friends Thursday, June 25, 2026 for a Visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home. Where a service will be held Friday at 11:00 am. Interment Powhatan Community Cemetery.
