Penny Waseman Richardson, 78, of Powhatan passed away on July 22, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born April 25, 1948 in Nashville, Tennessee to James Clay Waseman Jr. and Elizabeth Buchanan Waseman. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Jr. and Elizabeth Waseman, her bother Jim III, and her loving husband, Donald Richardson. She was a graduate of Huguenot High School, married Donald in August 1968, and eventually moved to Powhatan where they raised their family. She is survived by her sister Marsha Winfree (George), her children Elizabeth, James (Jessica), Stephen (Amber), and Kathryn (Chris), ten devoted grandchildren, with one on the way, and a host of nieces and nephews. Family was the center of her life, and she loved each and every one of her family members.

A memorial service will be held on August 8, 2026 at 2 o'clock at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home in Powhatan. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you please make a donation in her memory to the Susan B. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation.
