Raymond Krebs

Raymond Krebs was born in Washington, D.C., to Hilmer and Alice Krebs and raised in District Heights, MD. After graduating from Suitland High School in 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Belknap during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a welder at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, eventually retiring as Head of Facilities Management, Underground Utilities. In 1974, he met and married Melanie, beginning a 50-year journey filled with love, faith, and family. Together they raised three children, Robin (Charles Vaughan), Thomas (Cyndi) and Sarah (David Foltyn) and were blessed with ten grandchildren: Devin McPhatter, Sophie and Michael Vaughan; Aiselyn, Abigail, and Gabriel Krebs; and Katlyn, Garrett, Lucas and Lily Foltyn. Raymond was preceded in death by his older brother, R. Dietrich Krebs and is survived by younger brother, Lawrence Krebs.

A man of faith and integrity, Raymond served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, known for his kindness towards others and willingness to serve. In recent years, he faced the struggles of cancer with hope and humility, never turning away a visitor and continually uplifted by the love of others.

Raymond believed in eternal families and now reunites with loved ones who have gone before him. He leaves a legacy of selfless love, steady strength and wisdom for us to cherish.

A viewing will be held at Bennett and Barden Funeral Home on Friday, June 20th from 6-8pm.

A service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1957 Capeway Rd, Powhatan, VA on Saturday, June 21st at 11:00am.
