Roger "Wayne" Franklin

75, of Powhatan, died May 7, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shelva J. Franklin; children, Russell W. Franklin (Cathy) of Powhatan, Debbie F. Giella (Brian) of Amelia, Roger L. Franklin (Jeanne) of Powhatan; sister, Betty Merricks (Bobby) of Alta Vista; sister-in-law, Gladys Franklin of Evergreen; grandsons, Russ (Mary), Nicholas (Amanda), David, Deven, Brandon, Jonathan, Gabriel all of Powhatan; two great grandsons, Hayden & Justin, both of Powhatan; mother-in-law, Gladys V. Mitchell; brother-in-law, Louis E. "Pete" Mitchell (Pat), both of West Virginia; host of nephews, nieces friends and neightbors and man's long time best friend, Dusty. He was preceded in death by brother, Thomas C. "Sonny" Franklin; sister, Judy Hatcher of Appomattox. He was born in Farmville and was a resident of Powhatan for the past 44 years. He was a long time employee of G. L. Howard, Inc. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 2 pm at the Powhatan Community Church, with services to follow at 2 pm. Interment Powhatan Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Powhatan Community Church P.O. Box 834 Powhatan, Virginia 23139.
