Reams, Ronald "Ronnie" Scott Sr., 74, peacefully passed away at home on Friday, August 14, 2026, surrounded by his two children.He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Nicholas Reams Sr. and Lydia Haynie Reams; his brother, Raymond Reams Jr., and nephew, Christopher Michael Reams.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Reams Martin (Ricky); his son, Ronald Scott Reams Jr. (Aisha); and their mother, Sandra Parker; Grandchildren, Lydia & Lyza Martin, Rumi & River Reams; Brother, Gary Reams (Karen); his sisters, Teresa Reams and Glenda Reams Hertless (Mike); nephews, Ric Hertless (Tricia), Nick Reams, Phillip Reams, Daniel Reams, Ian Reams; niece, Stephanie Hertless; great-niece, Sadie Hertless; and great-nephew, Tycer Hertless. Last but certainly not least, he is survived by his roommate and close friend, Vernon Mosley aka "Captain."
Ronnie grew up in Richmond, Va and graduated from J. R. Tucker High School. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy as an aviation jet and helicopter mechanic. He also served as an Aircraft Safety Petty Officer Second Class and was honourably discharged in 1983.He continued his education at Asbury College in Wilmore, KY, majoring in history and social sciences. He graduated from the University of New York in Albany, NY. While at Asbury, Ronnie played soccer and served as a class representative.Ronnie loved God, his family, the cowboys, the guitar, history, old movies, chocolate and ice cream. He took pride in refinishing things, caring for his lawn and keeping his car clean. More than anything, he was a people person. He was known for his sense of humor and good-natured demeanor. Over the years, he made many cherished friends and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
A Service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, VA., 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Affinity Hospice, Chelsea Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, & Bon Secours Medical Center for the care and support they provided to Ronnie over the years.
