Rowland Wilburn Flournoy, Jr.

July 12, 1948 — October 14, 2025

Midlothian

Rowland Wilburn Flournoy, Jr., age 77, loving father to two daughters, Sharon Flournoy Pressler and Susan Flournoy Martin and fiercely loyal husband of Nang Hui Flournoy, passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of October 14, 2025.

Rowland was born July 12, 1948 in Berwyn, Illinois. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in S. Korea from 1968 to 1971. His tour of duty ended in January 1971 with the rank of Specialist 5. He always loved God, his country and his family. He was a true patriot. This is where he and his wife's Love Story began and forged for 56 years, a beautiful lifetime together. They both shared a love for family and family time, together.

Rowland worked as an Internal Auditor for the VA Housing Development Authority and retired after 30+ years of dutiful service. He met wonderful friends there. He was often found at the local gym, Body Shop, out on the company Softball Team or running downtown on his breaks.

He was an outdoorsman, some of his passions included tennis, softball, hunting, billiards, computer games, fishing with family and friends as well as family vacations at the beach or mountains. His adventures extended into Alaska where he camped, fished, hunted and rafted along the river among grizzly bears in the pursuit for Alaskan Salmon.

Rowland had a "Flournoy" sense of humor that he regaled family and friends with practical jokes and puns. He was king of "Popsicle" jokes, the cornier the better. He left an undeniable mark upon our hearts and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his incredible wife and lifelong partner, Nang Hui Flournoy of Midlothian, VA; two daughters, Sharon Flournoy Pressler (Craig) of Chatham, VA and Susan Flournoy Martin of Glen Allen, VA; as well as a brother, Ronald Beadle Flournoy of Midlothian, VA; sister, Lois Ann Moncrief of Maui, HI; He is also survived by his granddaughter, Britanni S. Thompson; grandson, Kyle-Thomas Pressler; great-granddaughter, Aryah Thompson. As well as all of his family that had been an integral part of his life.
