Thomas Harry Williams: September 16, 1944 – February 20, 2026
Thomas Williams, 81 of Powhatan, VA breathed his last breath in the afternoon of February 20, 2026 and entered into eternity with his heavenly father.
“Tom” or “Tommy” as he was most commonly known, was born on September 16, 1944 to Richard & Katherine Williams, in Georgetown, Washington, DC. He married his wife, Betty Williams on May 25, 1968, a marriage that lasted almost 58 years together Tom & Betty settled in Falls Church, VA, but later moved to Powhatan, VA in 2003.
Tom’s Employment history included 4 years in the Navy, and over 25 years as a Printing company Pressman in Alexandria and Falls Church, VA, making maps. He also worked for Ferguson in Richmond, VA as courier for several years.
His Loving family that will miss him dearly includes his wife Betty, Daughter & Son-in-law Jodie & Scott, Granddaughter Abby, Older brother & sister-in-law Dick & Sharon, Younger brother & sister-in-law Jerry & Shirley, Niece Tracy, Nephew & Wife Greg & Renee, Nephew & Wife Richard & Sarah. Along with additional great nieces and nephews, he was loved by many friends who were more like family.
In 2022, Tom was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer, which resulted in having 1 kidney removed, ultimately leading to 3 times per week dialysis and accompanied by declining health, chronic pain, and limited mobility. He had already begun preparations for stopping dialysis at the end of February this year, unfortunately he suffered a fall with a broken hip and the timeline for this decision was shortened. It was his wish to not undergo surgery and to initiate stopping of dialysis. In honoring his wishes, we were able to spend 8 more days with him on this side of heaven before he passed.
A Celebration of life service for Tom will be held on Saturday March 14, 2026, at 11am at Passion Community Church, 4480 Anderson Highway, Powhatan, VA, with refreshments and fellowship to follow. Tom’s wishes for his service for those attending, to wear casual attire, as he would NOT prefer any formal attire or suits.
In lieu of Flowers- The Family suggests you visit your favorite beach or listen to the music of the Beach Boys or Alabama to honor his memory. You may also consider a donation to Passion Community Church in Powhatan, VA.
