William Paul Patterson, Jr.

William “Billy” Paul Patterson Jr., 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Born on January 3, 1954, in Farmville, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Paul Patterson Sr. and Gladys Juanita Patterson.

Billy is survived by his daughter Shannon Grice (Arthur) of Angier, NC, grandchildren, Nolan, Kamden, & Trace Grice, sisters Nancy Payne and Connie Dandridge (Bubba), brother George Patterson, 7 nieces & nephews, 6 great nieces & nephews, and long-time companion Connie Ferrell of Sanford, NC. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by sisters Doris Hardison and Janet Patterson.

Billy graduated from Cumberland High School in Cumberland, Virginia and eventually moved to North Carolina in 1984.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing and attending baseball games and NASCAR races.

Family will receive friends to celebrate Billy's life on Sunday, November 9th, 2025, from 2-5 p.m. at Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy., Powhatan, VA.
